What is the Pladur and Advantages Regarding the Traditional Work

August 18, 2019

In general, when someone refers to Pladur, they do so to refer generically to the “laminated plasterboard”. Since Pladur was the first brand to enter the Spanish market, users have used it as a generic product reference. This situation is due to the fact that laminated plasterboard installers are known as plasturists.
What is Pladur’s plate made of?

Basically, we could say that Pladur plates are made of gypsum ore, water, some soap that will generate microbubbles of air, these will be very useful to lighten the weight of the plate, in the composition of the plasterboard we will also find some chemical additives that will make the plate have certain technical characteristics and a layer of paper on each side that will give the plaster the necessary strength to make it resistant to traction.

The advantage of Pladur’s plate or any other brand in the market with respect to another type of construction system is that gypsum is one of the lightest minerals we can use to work or model in construction, allowing relatively low costs. low in manufacturing, transportation and installation. Although we must not forget that the houses are supported on a structure and cement foundations. This structure also benefits from the lightness of the plasterboard, since it will not need to be oversized in the same way as using heavier materials.

The main advantage of construction with Pladur, Knauf or Placo is the scalability of construction systems, depending on the use we want to make of them. We show you some general examples, although depending on the specific system of each manufacturer, the regulations of each autonomous community or other variables, these could change, so we advise you to consult the technical staff of your work or your official distributor.

Separation of rooms within the same house: 1 plasterboard 15 mm. + channel-upright structure + rock wool + 1 15 mm plasterboard.

Separation of rooms within the same house with improved sound insulation: 1 15mm plasterboard + 1 13mm plasterboard + channel-mount structure + rock wool + 1 13mm plasterboard + 1 plate 15 plaster + acoustic membrane + sound absorbing joints + elastic dampers.

Separation between dwellings: 2 15 mm plasterboard + channel-upright structure + rock wool + 1 15mm plasterboard + channel-upright structure + rock wool + 2 15mm plasterboard (it is advisable to install in the central plate, a 0.3 cm thick anti-vandal metal plate to reinforce safety against a possible butrón)

Separation between houses: 1 15mm plasterboard + high density membrane + 1 15mm plasterboard + channel-upright structure + rock wool + 1 15mm plasterboard + channel-upright structure + rock wool + 1 15mm gypsum board + high density membrane + 1 15mm gypsum board + (in this case it is also advisable to install a 0.3 cm thick anti-vandal metal sheet to reinforce safety against a possible butrón, but with high density elastomeric sheet on both sides to avoid metal vibration) + sound absorbing gaskets + elastic dampers.

As you can see the uses of Pladur are many and provide high quality finishes, so if you install a plasterboard partition without rock wool, fiberglass or mineral wool inside, distrust and ask a specialist, because most likely , do not meet the minimum requirements of both thermal insulation and sound insulation.

Laminated Plasterboard Problems

Sometimes and due to more than excessive cost savings, laminated plasterboard systems present problems in their installation, almost all of the time this is not due to a problem of the material or the construction system itself, because This is usually due to a defect in the installation.
